About the Department


The Programme B. Com (Banking & Insurance) was introduced in the academic year of 2016-2017. This strives to provide an intellectual environment in highly Competitive Banking and Insurance sectors through its integrated quality education. It provides operational exposure in the field of banking and insurance through internship, project and assignments. The syllabi of each course are designed to make the students understand the dynamics of banks, insurance in a better way. It also aims to inculcate training and practical approach among the students by using modern technologies

  • Guest Lectures are conducted for the students from Banks/ Insurance Companies/ Legal Adivsors/ Professors according to their subject experts.

Village Visit – 2017-18

VenueSennur (Kalarpalayam) and Karasa Mangalam, Vellore.
Brief Report On 10th March 2018, 35 students of II Year B. Com (Banking and Insurance) conducted “Banking and Insurance” awareness program in collaboration with Vellore Institute of Commerce, Katpadi. Students were divided into 7 groups each group explained the following: a) How to fill pay-in-slip
b) How to use debit cards
c) Various loans available to farmers
d) How to apply for loans. Students met people door to door and created awareness regarding banking transactions.30 families were given awareness in this village.

Village Visit – 2018-2019

Brief Report On 1st December, 2018, 21 students from II and III B. Com (Banking and Insurance) students visited the village “Munjurpattu”. The main aim of this visit is to create awareness among the rural people. Our students are divided into seven groups they explained about the Life Insurance policies, pension, retirement policies, Endowment policies, how to open digital Banking transactions. It was a practical experience for the students to reach out the rural society

Brief Report On 26th January, 35 students of B. Com (Banking and Insurance) visited the village Pallathur to create awareness among the villagers regarding Banking and Insurance aspects. Our students group wise explained various life Insurance policies, Prime Minister Insurance schemes of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Housing loans and Agricultural loan. It was practical experience for the students to reach out the rural society.

Brief Report On 12th August, 28 students of B. Com (Banking and Insurance) visited the Village “Pernambet (Erukkambuttu),Gudiyattam”. to create awareness among the villagers regarding Banking and Insurance aspects. Our students group wise explained various life Insurance policies, Prime Minister Insurance schemes of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Housing loans and Agricultural loan.   • Inaugurated and collaborated with Karur Vysya Bank, Katpadi Branch in the month of July 2018
  • II Year Students are Depositing Rs. 4,100 monthly in the KVB from July 2018 for a period of 6 months.
  • III Year Students are Depositing Rs. 12,600 monthly in the KVB from July 2018.
  • First month all the 56 students deposited the RD amount through Cash Deposit Machine.
  • Few students are paying through Net Banking.

ACCOUNT OPENING DRIVE BY KARUR VYSYA BANK

On 21st March 2019 Karur Vysya Bank in collaboration with Department of B.Com (Banking & Insurance) arranged 2 days camp to open savings account to the students and they availed various loans to the staff members. Totally 25 students from Shift I and II opened Savings Bank Account
