2015- 2016
The inauguration of the Biochemistry association was held on 29th July 2015. Mr. H.S Muthu Mohammed, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Islamiah College, Vaniyambadi presided
over the function. The chief guest gave a lecture on “Career Opportunities in Biochemistry & Biotechnology”. The students of Biochemistry department presented posters related to the “Recent trends in Biochemistry”
and the best posters were selected by the chief guest.
A model making competition was conducted on 14th September 2015. The models were judged by Ms. Jayanthi M, Head & Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Adhiparasakthi College of Arts and
Science, Kalavai. The chief guest animated the students on the topic “Molecular Signalling”.
On 27th January 2016, the department of Biochemistry organized an awareness camp on the “Role of Thyroid Hormone in Women Health” and a ‘Blood Test Camp’ in collaboration with Abbott India Ltd, Mumbai
& Sapthagiri Diagnostic Centre, Vellore, at Auxilium College campus. 150 students and 40 staff were the beneficiaries. Blood samples were collected from them for the diagnosis of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
(TSH) and Haemoglobin (Hb).
On 3rd February 2016, the department of Biochemistry organized a “Career guidance Programme” for the final year students in collaboration with Indian Health Care, BPO, Vellore. Mr.Gokul, HR consultant,
Indian Health care, BPO animated the Biochemistry final year students on the topic “Scope of Medical Coding”. A Screening test was conducted to examine the communication skill and subject knowledge of the students.
Out of forty one students two students were selected on spot for job.
A “Vegetable Carving” competition was conducted on 24th February 2016. Ms. B.V.Gowri, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, Auxilium College, Vellore judged the competition and the
prize winners were announced.
2016-2017
The inauguration of Biochemistry association was held on 26th July 2016. Mr. P.Arulkumaran, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Aadhiparasakthi agricultural College, Kalavi presided
over the function and gave a lecture on “Career opportunities in Biochemistry”. Also posters on Recent trends in Biochemistry were displayed by the students.
Dr. R. Sudhakaran, Assistant Professor (Senior), Aquaculture Biotechnology Laboratory, School of Biosciences and Technology, VIT, Vellore animated on the topic “Polymerase Chain Reaction” on 20th September
2016 and judged the models displayed by the students.
Dr. Gayathri Gopinath, Assistant Professor (Senior), Department of Biotechnology, SBST, VIT university, Vellore gave a lecture on the topic “What Next After Biochemistry” on 14th October 2016. “Vegetable
carving” competition was also conducted as a part of the association activity.
Dr. V.Prabha, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, D.K.M College, Vellore delivered a lecture on ‘Marine algae: The ocean Treasure’ on 19th December 2016. “Just A Minute” competition
was also conducted as association activity.
Dr. Anjana Joel, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Oncology, CMC, Vellore, delivered a lecture on “Risk factors of Cancer & Prevention” for the students on 23rd February 2017. A skit was also performed
to create awareness on ‘Cancer & Symptoms”.
Quiz competition on ‘General Biochemistry” was conducted on 27th February 2017, as a part of association activity for the students.
2017-2018
The inauguration of Biochemistry Association was held on 27th July 2017. Dr. Victoria Job, (Rtd), Head department of Biochemistry, CMC, Vellore presided over the function and gave a lecture on “Recent
trends in Clinical Biochemistry”. Also posters on “Recent trends in Biochemistry” were displaced by the students.
Dr.Senthil kumar Krishnamoorthi, Senior Research Assistant, School of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong gave a lecture on “ Role of Siddha and Ayurveda Medicine in treating Bone fracture”
on 11th October 2017.
Dr.S.R Suseem, Assistant Professor (Senior), Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, School of Advanced Science, VIT University, Vellore delivered a lecture on “Ecological importance of Mushrooms and its impact
on human life” for the students on 6th December. Model making competition was also conduced as a part of association activity.
Dr. Hepsibha Elsie, Assistant Professor Department of Biochemistry, DKM College, Vellore gave a talk on “Scope of Biochemistry” on 20th February 2018. Just A Minute (JAM) competition was also conducted
as a part of association activity.
2018-2019
The inauguration of Biochemistry Association was organized on 23rd July 2018. Dr. R. Maheswari, Head, PG & Research Department of Biochemistry, K.M.G College of Arts & Science, Gudiyattam was
the chief guest .The chief guest gave an inaugural talk and motivated the students to develop their practical skills. “The scope of Biochemistry” in various fields was also highlighted to the
students. Following the programme, a poster presentation competition was conducted. The students of Biochemistry department actively participated and exhibited their talents. The chief guest judged the posters
and announced the prize winners.
On 3rd September 2018 a guest lecture was organized as a part association activity. Dr. Subhashree.V, Associate Professor, Department of Integrative Biology, SBST, VIT, Vellore was the chief guest. The
chief guest delivered a lecture on “Impact of Cholesterol on Cardiovascular diseases”. Model making competition was also conducted. The students actively participated in model making competition and exhibited
their talents. The chief guest judged the models and announced the prize winners.
A guest lecture was organized on 5th October 2018. Dr. Vijayalakshmi S, Assistant Professor, Carbondioxide Research and Green Technologies Centre, VIT University, Vellore was the chief guest. The chief
guest delivered a lecture on “Novel Technique for the isolation and Structural elucidation of heterocarbon derivative from fungi”.
“Article Writing” competition was organized on 24th October 2018. Ms. Gowri B V, Head department of Microbiology, Auxilium College,Vellore judged the articles and announced the prize winners.
Vegetable carving competition was conducted on 29th January 2019. Dr. Auxilia Antony S, Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Auxilium College, Vellore, judged the competition and announced
the prize winners. Students of Biochemistry department actively participated in this activity and exhibited their talents.
2019-2020
Association of Biochemistry Department was inaugurated on 3rd July 2019. The chief guest was Dr.
I Niyas Ahamed, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur. The chief guest delivered a lecture on the topic “Applications of Bionanotechnology”. Following the lecture, poster presentation was conducted as an association activity.
The chief guest judged the competition and announced the prize winners.
As a part of association activity, guest lecture was organized on 26th August 2019.
The chief guest was Dr. J Thirumagal, Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, K.M.G college of Arts & Science, Gudiyattam. The chief guest delivered a lecture on the topic “Types of immune response”.
Following the lecture, vegetable carving was conducted as an association activity.
On 12th September 2019 a guest lecture and model making was organized as a part of association activity.
The chief guest was Dr. Hepsibha Elsie, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, D.K.M College for Women, Vellore. The chief guest delivered a talk on “Scope of Biochemistry”.
Following the lecture, model making was conducted as an association activity and the prize winners were announced.
A workshop on “Value addition to Agri Products” was organized as a part of association activity by the department of Biochemistry on 19th December 2019. Ms. C. Devi, Mayilvelan Dairy Farm, Kalputhur was the chief guest.
She highlighted on the importance of A2 milk and milk products.
On 24th January 2020, a workshop on “Herbal Products” was organized as a part of association activity by the department of Biochemistry. Ms. R Kalpana, Managing Director, AK Foods, Vellore was the chief guest.
The chief guest demonstrated the preparation and importance of herbal products and also highlighted the importance of millets for treating diseases in a natural way.
2020-2021
Association of Biochemistry was inaugurated on 21st August 2021 through virtual meet flatform.
The chief guest was Dr. S. Shoba, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology Adhiparasakthi College of Pharmacy, Melmaruvathur. The chief guest delivered a lecture on the topic “Diabetes Mellitus and Cardiovascular diseases”.
Both the UG and PG students of Biochemistry department were benefited through this guest lecture.
International webinar was organized on 9th October 2021, as a part of association activity.
The chief guest was Dr. Joel James.PDF., American Heart Association, University of Arizona, USA. The chief guest delivered a lecture on the topic “Mitochondria in Heart Diseases”.
Both the UG and PG students of Biochemistry department were benefited through this guest lecture.
Poster presentation was organized as a part of association activity on 15.11.21 on the theme “Recombinant Vaccine”.
The students of both UG and PG Biochemistry activity participated in the poster presentation. Dr. G. Abi Beaulah, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Vellore judged the posters and announced the prize winners.
On 26.11.21, association of Biochemistry conducted vegetable carving competition on the theme “Recent Advancement in Biochemistry”. Ms. B.V Gowri, Head and Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology judged the chief guest and announced the prizes.
Both the UG and PG students of Biochemistry exhibited their creative talents.
